Temperature Reaches 123 Degrees in India

The temperature went over 123 degrees (50C) in India. This was the highest temperature ever recorded in the country.

“Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 24 hours, along and off Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 48 hours and also and off the Odisha coast on 19th and 20th of May,” the IMD (India Meteorological Department) said in an advisory on Wednesday. –

Deutsche Welle reported, “The heat wave comes as India suffers its worst drought in decades, affecting around 330 million people. Drinking water is running short in many areas and poor rains have prompted the central government to send water trains to regions affected by drought. Hundreds of people have died and crops have been destroyed in several states.”
